Busy Week: Preparing for OpenLP 1.9.7

in General, OpenLP

As some folks might have noticed, I haven't blogged much here in the last two weeks. The reason for this is that I've been working on the upcoming release of OpenLP.

I'll be back next week, with part 5 of Introducing OSS Into Your Church (don't forget to read parts one, two, three and four if you haven't already!), and a guest post from Wesley Stout, as he reviews Ubuntu 11.10 beta.

Ubuntu 11.10 beta 1 released

in General, Kubuntu, Linux, Open Source, Review, Software, Ubuntu

Beta 1 of Ubuntu and Kubuntu 11.10, aka Oneiric Ocelot, has just been released. This is the first really big release of the next version of Ubuntu. Since I am a KDE/Kubuntu guy, I thought I'd do a review of the Kubuntu release.

Ubuntu folks don't need to feel left out, OMG! Ubuntu! has done a review of the Ubuntu release, so head on over there to read what they've said about Ubuntu, while I see what the new version of Kubuntu is like.

Rebooting Christians in Open Source Software

in Christianity, General, Open Source, Software

After an unplanned and lengthy hiatus, I am back with a plan to revive Christians in OSS!

Daily Newspaper

I have created a special daily "newspaper" of Christian and open source articles, called "Christians in OSS Daily" (gosh, how original!), thanks to the service at Paper.li. These daily editions are pulled automatically from my Twitter feed every day, and are usually not edited, unless I feel that some of the stories do not belong there.

Christians in OSS Blog Moving

in Blog, Christianity, General, Open Source, Software

I've decided to move the blog at christianoss.wordpress.com over to christianoss.org, and am looking for volunteer bloggers. If you think you might have something to say about OSS in a Christian context, I'd be really keen to hear from you.

Please note that you don't have to blog every X days or weeks, I'm just looking for contributors who have something to say from time to time.
